On the 11th of April, 2012, The Isaak Brodsky Apartment-Museum will host the grand opening of an exhibition featuring the work of Petr Tiutrin. Petr Tiutrin was born in Leningrad in 1978. In 1997 he graduated the Saint-Petersburg Academic Art College named after Boris Ioganson.

Vladimir Tabanin was born in 1934 in Shenkursk, Arkhangelsk region. In 1966 the artist graduated from the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1970 he graduated the studio of the professor A. Mylnikov.

Chuck Davidson is world-known American artist-designer, more than 40 years working with such renowned watch companies as Citizen, Corum, Concord, Movado, Piaget. His watch design work is represented in permanent collections of Washington Smithsonian Museum, Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York. Chuck Davidson’s archeoart compositions, first exhibited at the State University of New York’s Fine Art Gallery and Main Entrance Arts Gallery of New York’s famous Empire State Building and now on the wings of butterflies Chuck Davidson has migrated across Atlantic Ocean to the cultural Capital of Russia.

“Seeing the character” is the way the artist expresses his attitude towards his work, which includes portraits as well as genre paintings on historical themes, landscapes and still lifes. In each work he is searching for the unique character which determines the nature of the image as a whole. His artistic work can readily be likened to the transformation of a narrative into poetry.

On the 26th of February, an exhibition called “Normandy” opened in the summer studio of the Ilya Repin Museum. The highlights of this exhibition are the paintings of Stas Borodin. During the summer and autumn, the artist had been travelling along the Norman coast of France. These places have always had a special power over the artists such as Charles-François Daubigny, Oscar-Claude Monet, Georges Braque and others.

In February the Blue Hall of the Art Academy Museum will host an exhibition: “The examples to follow and imitate”. The highlights of the exposition are life class drawings from the collection of the Imperial Art Academy (1757 – 1917). This unique collection of drawings has its origin in the middle of the 18th century, when the Art Academy was founded. From the very beginning, it was established as a set of academic examples for the students to follow. Since 1765, the Art Academy Council has been preserving student’s drawings which were awarded with gold and silver medals. This tradition lasted until 1917.

On the 15th of February, 2012, the Raphael Hall of the Art Academy Museum will host the grand opening of a retrospective exhibition featuring the work of Igor Petrov. Igor Petrov is a great master of landscape paintings and a virtuosic open-air artist. He is a member of the Artist’s Union, as well as a professor of the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In the artist’s work, landscapes predominate as a symbol of his own microcosms: an expression of his own view on life, philosophy, aesthetics, and, of course, as a reflection of the beauty around him.

On the 8th of February, 2012, The Art Academy Museum will host the grand opening of an exhibition featuring the work of Alexander Tyutrin. The exhibition, which will take place in Titian Hall, will feature more than 60 pieces, including portraits, landscapes, still lifes, genre paintings, and vast canvases. Alexander Tyutrin was born in Leningrad. He graduated from the college of the Soviet Art Academy and proceeded to graduate with a degree in painting from the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (the studio of Professor Yury Neprincev). Later, Tyutrin taught drawing at the Ilya Repin Institute. In 1978, Tyutrin became a member of the Artist’sUnion.

On the 7th of December at 4 p.m. the Grand opening of the exhibition “Oeuvre of Vladimir Yantarev” will take place in the Museum of Isaak Brodsky. Vladimir Nikolayevich Yantarev was born in 1940 in Leningrad. The artist graduated from the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. From 1966 Vladimir Yantarev participated in different exhibitions organized in Russia and abroad. In 1975 he became a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. During the years of his membership he created a lot of monumental works: mosaics, ceramic panels and stained glass windows.
The exhibition “Taras and Vasilij – models of the artist Carl Brullov”

From 22nd of December the exhibition “Taras and Vasilij – models of the artist Carl Brullov” will be on display in the Blue Hall of the Art Academy Museum. The highlights of this exhibition are 30 studies made by the students of the Imperial Art Academy during the second half of the XIX century. Most of the works were awarded with silver medals. The sketches also show how famous Russian artists-teachers, for example the brothers Makovsky, Shustov, Korzuhin, Savitsky and others created the composition sketches with the models. For the Art Academy students drawing and painting models played an important role. As for the models, for some of them posing became a profession. During the times of the “Great Carl” (Carl Brullov) there were two models working in the Art Academy – Taras and Vasili. They were Carl Brullov's favorite models. Thanks to the research of the Art Academy's Museum lots of the original titles of these sketches were found and the names of the models (Zakhar, Taras, Vasilij and others) could be specified.

On the 23rd of November in the halls of Isaak Brodsky Museum there will be a grand opening of the exhibition of the artist Larisa Boeva. Larisa Boeva is a member of the Peter's Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Association of the Artists of Pavlovsk. Larisa Boeva is also the teacher of the highest qualification. The artist graduated the graphic design faculty at the University in the name of Herzen, took participation in the exhibitions in Russia and abroad. More then 20 years Larisa Boeva worked in the schools of Pushkin. The artist works in different genres: still life, landscape, and portrait. Her works are in collections of different Russian and foreign museums.

The upcoming exhibition will take place in December 2011 in the halls of the Art Academy Museum. The highlights of the exposition are works made by the students of the Ilya Repin Institute and works of the students of the Ioganson Art Lyceum.

On November 10, 2011, the halls of the Art Academy Museum will host the Grand Opening of an exhibition devoted to the works of Peter Kotov. Kotov was a Full Member of the Soviet Academy of Arts, an Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR, and the winner of the USSR State Prize. The exhibition features paintings created by the artist in 1913-1953 from the collections of the State Russian Museum, The S. M. Kirov Medical Military Academy, the Museum of Military Artillery and Engineering, the Museum of the Russian Art Academy and from the personal collection owned by the artist’s family. The highlights of the exhibition are sketches that were taken from the restricted access list of the military archives when they were declassified. These sketches are being shown in public for the first time, making the upcoming event an exhibition of historical artifacts.
Children’s days in Saint-Petersburg

The festival “Children’s days in Saint-Petersburg” is the event yearly organized by a number of city museums, the Cultural Committee of Saint-Petersburg and the Centre of Museum Development. The program of the project called “12345 – I will go and find” offers young visitors different exhibitions, performances, “know-how” classes and a game-lections. This year the Art Academy Museum in collaboration with the Museum of S. M. Kirov and the Museum of Urban Sculpture will present a route “Imagine…” for 9-12 years old children. Three museums suggest children to play, to imagine themselves Gulliver in the land of Architecture or to imagine themselves a soviet pioneer or a detective, etc. Little visitors will learn how to build a Gulliver’s house or how to recognize the original stone from its fake, will chose the most interesting names and will help to prevent an international scandal.

The exhibition of works of Vladislav Razgulin is opened in the halls of Isaak Brodsky home-museum. The artist was born in Zavolzje, Gorky region. He graduated the department of architecture in the Gorky Institute of Engineering and the Saint-Petersburg Academy of Design and Industry in the name of Shtiglits. The diploma work of Vladislav Razgulin is the metal decoration for the Chapel of Saint Apostle and Evangelist Luke. Later the artist took participation in designing the Church of Christ the Savior in Moscow (white stone works and the mosaics on the floor). Nowadays Vladislav Razgulin is an active member of the exhibitions yearly organized by the Saint-Petersburg Union of Artists. He also is a member of the Russian Union of Artists.
Gianni Maimeri “Feeling of the color”
October 3rd – November 6th
On the 3rd of October in the halls of the Russian Art Academy Museum (Saint-Petersburg) there will be a Grand Opening of the personal exhibition devoted to the works of the Italian artist Gianni Maimeri (1884 - 1951). This cultural event is connected with ‘The Year of Italian culture and Italian language in Russia’ promoted under patronage of the President of Italian Republic. The highlights of the exhibition “Feeling of the color” are paintings, remarkable collection of drawings “Musicians” and installations. Gianni Maimeri was born in Varano close to the lake Lago di Comabbio in Lombardy, Italy. After a short stay in Venice in 1906 the artist returned to Milan where his teachers of painting were Leonardo Baccaro and later Emilio Gola. In 1918 Gianni Maimeri had his first personal exhibition in the Gerry’s Gallery in Milan which was highly appreciated by the art critics and collectors.

From September 17th until October 16th in Saint-Petersburg, a festival will take place: “Contemporary Art in a Traditional Museum”. It is being organized by the fund “PRO ARTE”. One of the projects at this festival is the exhibition of Olga Florenskaya and Aleksandr Florensky: “City N”. The “City N” project consists of a few architectural objects. The objects mirror different public constructions typically found in the average European city: a Town Hall, Palace, Theatre, Post Office, Prison, etc.

From September 14th until September 25th, in the halls of the Isaak Brodsky Museum, an exhibition of paintings made by Petersburg artist Tatiana Parfenova will take place: “In the shadow of a silver age”. Tatiana Parfenova was born in Leningrad. In 2000 she graduated from the B. V. Ioganson Academic Lyceum of Arts. In 2006 she graduated from the Art faculty of Hertsen University, and in 2003 she recieved a diploma from the Institute of Decorative Arts. Tatiana Parfenova is a member of the Russian Union of Artists. The grand opening of the exhibition will occur on the 15th of September at 4 p.m. in the halls of the Isaak Brodsky Museum.

On the 10th of September in the halls of Pavel Chistyakov’s home-museum there will be an opening of the exhibition of works by Marina Bukhanova. Marina Bukhanova is an artist and a teacher of painting. That is why the atmosphere of the house of the famous Russian painting teacher Pavel Chistyakov seems very close to Marina. The artist graduated the Higher College of Applied Arts in the name of Vera Mukhina in the 1986. The highlights of the exhibition are paintings (watercolor, oil) and tapestries. The main theme is flowers.

The exhibition of works of Yury Repin
July 21-October 30
The exhibition of works of Yury Repin, the son of the great artist Ilya Repin is on display in the summer-studio of the home museum of Ilya Repin “Penates”. The highlights of the exhibition are the early works of Yury Repin, such as the “Self portrait with a pipe” and the landscapes made in 1890's, and later works made in 1930's. After 1939 there was no possibility for Yury Repin to continue working in the studio that was located in the house close to Penates, his father’s manor. Because the political situation at the Russian-Finnish border worried the Finnish government it started evacuating people from the Karelian Isthmus in 1939. According to eyewitness accounts Yury Repin and Vera Repina, children of Ilya Repin, were the lasts to leave their manor Kuokkala (present time - Penates). Ilya Repin left the manor by his last will to the Art Academy. Later the scientists of the Art Academy found lots of letters, photographs, sketches and paintings in the walls of Penates.

On the 13th of May the exhibition “Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso. Graphics, Sculpture, Ceramics”, with works from the collection of Alexander Shadrin (Yekaterinburg) was opened in the Raphael’s hall of the Art Academy Museum. The exhibition consisted of 119 works by Dali and 16 by Picasso.

On the 21st July 2011 there was an opening of the Photo Exhibition on Ilya Repin and his family in the home-museum of Repin, “Penates”. It seems to be clear that in the archives of the Art Academy and the manor “Penates” there are lots of documents connected to the name of the artist Repin. But among all these data there is also a big amount of information about his relatives, his family. We have paid our attention to these exactly archived documents while organizing the exhibition. The main exhibits are photographs that have never been published.
‘To you as a gift of love towards Fatherland’ Exhibition devoted to the 200 years anniversary of the Kazan Cathedral in Saint-Petersburg

In 2011, the Kazan cathedral in St Petersburg will have its 200 anniversary, counting from the day of its consecration. The Kazan cathedral is the main cathedral of the Petersburg eparchy of the Russian orthodox church. It was named after the icon “Our Lady of Kazan”. The exhibition displays the history of the construction of the Kazan cathedral and its significance for life in St Petersburg and for Russian art.

Natella Toidze – is an artist who works in a very personal style. She was born in Moscow into a family of well-known artists. In 1972 she graduated from the Moscow academic art school “To the memory of 1905”, the department of theater decoration. Soon she started to take part in Russian exhibitions. In the landscapes of Georgia, the master showed us a deep sense of nature, the “soul of nature”. The latest works of Natella Toidze are full of intensive “decorativizm” – one of the main tendencies in Russian art of the beginning of 20th century. Putting the bright and symbolical images in the scale of colours, the artist refers to a mysterious process in nature.

The opening of the annual traditional exhibit of graduation works of students from the Institute of Art, Sculpture and Architecture of I.Y. Repin, will take place at the Staterooms of the Scientific-research museum of the Russian Academy of Arts on July 3, 2009 at 15:00. These final exhibitions definitely strike live interest among the visitors of the museum, and this is not an accident, since what is interesting to our young artists, sculptors and sketchers, what draws their attention and what is left beyond their artistic interests and ambitions can in great deal define the current state and future development of our pictorial art.

Exhibition dedicated to the house of Lobanov-Rostovsky will begin working on June 25, 2009 at 14:00 at the museum of the Russian Academy of Arts. The center exhibit will be an architectural model of a building, which is ceremonially presented for a permanent stay at the museum of the Academy of Arts .

Petersburg festival of Repin anniversary exhibitions
2009 marks the 110th anniversary of “Penaty” and 165 years since the birth of I.Y. Repin. In connection with celebrating the anniversary date, the Scientific-Research Museum of Art and Museum-Estate of I.Y. Repin “Penaty”, are conducting a “Repin anniversary festival” with the participation and support of various federal and social organizations.

June 5, 2009 at 16:00, the exhibition of an Italian painter Ettore De Conciliiswill open it’s doors. The exhibit will display over 50 works, spanning the entire creative path of the painter; from the first murals of the sixties to the sudden change of genre in the direction of intimate, which occurred in the second half of the seventies and lead the painter to creating scenery and still-life.

Exhibition of Vladimir Ershov’s artwork

Vladimir Ershov was born in Leningrad in 1964. He began learning art at the art middle school at the Academy of Art and from 1987 in the work shop of Boris Ugarov and Victor Reyhet at the Academy of Art. In 1993 Vladimir Ershov became the member of the Artist’s Union. Exhibitions of his personal work took place in our country as well as abroad and some of this artist’s work is kept in museums while some of it is in private collections.

Hamid Savkuev is a painter who can by right be called the representative of several traditions. He is a graduate of a famous Saint Petersburg State College of Art, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.Y.Repin (Department of monumental painting, workshop of professor A.A. Mylnikov) and he continues the traditions of the Russian school through his creative work. At the same time his creations are filled with folk art of his homeland, Kabardino-Balkarya.

The Week of the Russian Avant Garde in Saint Petersburg

The German cultural center after Goethe represents a series of exhibitions in October, 2008 in the Ceremonial halls of the Scientific-Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts within the framework of the program “The weeks of the Russian Avant Garge in Saint Petersburg”. The exhibitions are devoted to the reflection of this movement in the German architecture, particularly to the exhibition of the residential quarters of Berlin Art Nouveau and expositions devoted to the creative life of the architects Bruno Taut and Erich Mendelson. The “Week” is a part of a vast program “Petersburg Dialogue 2008” which will take place this year in autumn in Saint Petersburg the fourth time.
International Exhibition of Calligraphy

The first in Russia “International Exhibition of Calligraphy” is a cultural and educational project which is purposed not only to revive historical traditions of writing, but also to show educational and cultural importance of the project for spiritual development of a person, create an environment for further development and practical application of calligraphy as an art in the whole world. An essential part of the exhibition will be the museum exposition of the most interesting and unexplored patterns of the Slavic writing, historic manuscripts of the world’s nations, there will be presented a numerous collection of rare books, writing utensils of different periods, items of the applied calligraphy and specialized literature. International status of the project is supported by participation of the best calligraphy schools of Russia, USA, Germany, Israel, Palestine, Mongolia, Italy, Syria, Ukraine, France, Belorussia, Australia, India, Turkey, Norway, Taiwan, China, Jordan, Peru and other countries.
The museum will be closed on the 20th of May.
