The exhibition displays works created since 1898 till today by the artists of the Shibnevs family. Major part of the works is from a family’s collection.
Damian Shibnev, a graduate of the Art Academy and a student of Ilya Repin and Pavel Chistyakov, is a progenitor of the Shibnevs dynasty of artists. The artist happened to live in Mariupol, Ukraine. The nearby sea and southern nature can be considered as first art teachers for Damian, who later used to paint impressionistic landscapes, for the most part.
Works by Damian can be found in state and private collections in Russia.
There are two works by Damian in the art collection of the Isaak Brodsky memorial museum, Swimming and Boys at the shore, which are displayed at the exhibition.
The exhibition will run until the 19th of July at the Isaak Brodsky memorial museum.
