From the 16th of October, 2013 the museum-apartment of I.I. Brodsky has been hosting an exhibition “By the northern waves…” The exhibition features works of four young artists, graduates of the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. Repin: Oksana Arkhipova, Tamara Kamaeva, Yulia Kostsova and Ludmila Scherbinina. At the exposition there are works mainly devoted to the theme of North: northern nature, life and history. These works were created during the open-air painting practice at the White Sea and the Solovetsky archipelago in 2011 and 2013.
The main features which unite these four artists are the development of the “vast size picture” problem and the realistic style. The artists chose few similar motifs but each of them realized them in painting differently. Among these motifs one can find silent, laconic beauty of northern nature, filled with transparent white nights and a feeling of profound solitude, with the separateness and inner power of the northern nature and a triumph and a misery of a human in there.
The exhibition is open until the 27th of October, 2013
