On the 30th of November, 2013, the “Penates” museum will host the opening of the exhibition featuring works by Nicolay Kovalev, the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
The highlights of the exhibition are graphic works and paintings created in the 1950-1960s in Komarovo village. Filled with the “Finnish bay” air, these watercolors show us the unique atmosphere of Repino, Komarovo, Sestroretsk and other villages nearby the Karelian Isthmus during the 1950-1960s. In these post-war decades artists, writers and scientists used to gather here. One can say, that the development of Nicolay Kovalev as an artist mainly happened in these places, fuelled by the artistic debates and research of those days.
These works are to be displayed in the “Penates” museum by the Saint-Petersburg art gallery “Sova-Art” for the first time. The exhibition will be open until the 15th of January, 2014 at the “Penates” museum, the branch of the Academy of Fine Arts Museum.
